A gathering of intellectuals from the Tricity region, including prominent lawyers and activists, united today to voice their condemnation of the atrocities being committed against the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh.
Leading the protest forum were renowned figures such as Sardar Navdeep Singh Bitta, Advocate and Chairman of the Punjab Legal Forum Mohali; Darshan Singh Rathore, former Additional Secretary of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha; and Paramjit Singh Sandhu, Assistant Legal Advisor to the Punjab Government.
They were joined by Sunil Kumar Jindal, Executive Member of the Mohali Bar Association, and other advocates including Bhuvan Bhalla, Harpreet Singh, Amarjit Singh, Jasbirinder Singh, Harnam Singh, Harjit Singh, Ishpreet Singh, Sukhjit Singh, Mandeep Singh, and Amandeep Singh.
Speaking to journalists, the intellectuals denounced the ongoing persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh as “unfortunate and shameful to humanity.” They drew parallels with history, referencing the supreme sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who gave his life to protect oppressed communities.
Echoing the Guru’s teachings, the intellectuals pledged solidarity with the suffering Hindus of Bangladesh, raising slogans in their support and calling for immediate international intervention. “The lives, property, and religious freedoms of minorities must be safeguarded,” they emphasized in their appeal to the President of Bangladesh.
The gathering urged the global community to act decisively to end the persecution, stressing the need for justice and the protection of human rights.
