Instead of poster antics, Modi regime must prepare to tackle 3rd wave of Covid: Jakhar

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Sunil Jakhar has cautioned that instead of indulging in poster pasting exercise Modi government should aggressively prepare to negotiate third COVID wave, apprehensions of which are being projected by medical experts.

Jakhar said this while interacting with mediapersons at Congress Bhawan here after honouring ‘Farz Manukhta Layi’ mission initiated to provide proactive assistance to needy during Covid second onslaught. Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included State Control Room Coordinator Sardar Amarpreet Singh Lalli, and President District Youth Congress Mohali and State Control Room co-cordinator Sardar Kanwarbir Singh Ruby Sidhu.

Jakhar said that under able leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and Medical Education Minister OP Soni’s departments had efficiently managed the Covid-induced situation. Jakhar also lauded the state frontline workers for putting their own lives at risk to serve humanity in these critical times.

Commending all party leaders for steering the Farz Manukhta Layi Project with utmost dedication and sincerity, Jakhar said each and every member of the team deserves praise for putting their best efforts to ensure help and assistance to those in need.

Thousands of people across districts have been helped with oxygen, medicines, hospital admissions, ambulances, ration, cooked food through district offices of the mission. Jakhar further said that our national leader Rahul Gandhi has directed that in this difficult hour party leaders must help Covid affected citizens above all in all circumstances, adding that we have fulfilled the mission in this spirit only. Urging the whole Farz Manukhta Layi team to not let the guard down just yet, Jakhar said the danger has not ended yet and we need to be cautious in view of the potential third wave.

Lambasting centre he said that Punjab has been subjected to a partial behaviour on vaccines and medicine supply by centre. Cautioning PM Modi about impending danger of Covid their wave, he urged for aggressive preparations so that precious lives are not lost again as was unfortunately witnessed during the second wave. Centre must invest more in epidemological study of variants to identify likely clusters and preempt virus hotspots, he advised.
