The Entrepreneurship Cell “Spark Tank” of the University Business School, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), organized “Idea Fusion 2026”, an inter-departmental innovation challenge.
The event brought together over 60 student participants from various departments of the University, who presented a diverse range of innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial solutions before a panel of faculty members and industry experts. The programme aimed to foster creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking among students.
The event was conducted under the guidance of the Head of Department, Dr. Pritpal Singh Bhullar, with active coordination by Dr. Veerpaul Kaur Maan, Prof. Puneet Bansal, and Assistant Professor Amritpal Singh. Faculty members played a vital role in mentoring and encouraging participants throughout the competition.
The innovative ideas were evaluated by Mr. Jasdeep Singh, Incubation Manager at Thapar Venture Lab, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (Deemed to be University), and Dr. Ashish Baldi, Director IQAC and Chief Mentor, BCL-AICTE Idea Lab, MRSPTU.
A key highlight of the event was the insightful address by Guest of Honour, Prof. Ashish Baldi, Director IQAC, who shared valuable perspectives with the participants. The Chief Guest, Mr. Jasdeep Singh, also shared industry-oriented insights and his expertise in startup incubation, enriching the learning experience for all attendees.
Idea Fusion 2026, organized by Spark Tank, provided a dynamic platform for students to pitch their ideas, receive expert feedback, and gain practical exposure to real-world business challenges. The event concluded on a positive note with closing remarks by Dr. Pritpal Singh Bhullar, Head, University Business School, with participants and organisers appreciating the initiative.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, expressed confidence that such initiatives would continue to nurture innovation, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial skills among students, thereby strengthening the startup ecosystem within academic institutions. He congratulated the University Business School for this impactful initiative aimed at fostering a culture of innovation within the University.
