The Indian Oil Punjab State and Inter District Badminton Championship being organized by District Badminton Association (DBA) at Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium was inaugurated by Shri Anil Bhatti (Retd IRS) on Thursday. About 300 players from different cities of Punjab are participating in the championship.
As many as 10 teams are participating in the team event and the final of this event was played between Jalandhar and Ludhiana. Displaying a scintillating team effort, Jalandhar won the team championship title by defeating Ludhiana 3-1 in the final played on Friday.
DBA Secretary and former national player Ritin Khanna informed that other finals of the championship will be played on January 29 and on the same day the winners will be awarded cash and other attractive prizes by Deputy Commissioner S. Jaspreet Singh (IAS) and Division Head, Indian Oil Shri Rajan Beri.
“Special food arrangements were made for the refreshment for the players participating in this championship”, said Ritin Khanna, while adding that the winners of the championship would represent Punjab in the national championship to be held in Pune.
On the occasion, the members of the DBA, Jalandhar, Interim Committee, Mr. Naresh Budhia, Mr. Kusum KP, Mr. Rakesh Khanna, Mr. Harpreet Singh, Mr. Dheeraj Sharma and others were present.
