Himanshu Jain, a 2017-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, assumed office as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ludhiana on Thursday. In his first address to the media, Jain outlined his vision for a progressive and people-centric administration, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery.
Having served in various key roles, including DC Rupnagar, Additional Principal Secretary in Chief Minister office, Municipal corporation Commissioner Hoshiarpur, ADC Jalandhar (Urban Development), SDM Kharar and Assistant Commissioner in Jalandhar (UT), Jain brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Jain highlighted his commitment to making Ludhiana a drug-free district through coordinated efforts with the police and community stakeholders. He stressed the importance of creating a safe and healthy environment for all residents.
Ensuring access to the best health facilities will be another priority, with a focus on improving healthcare infrastructure and services across the district. Jain also vowed to foster a corruption-free environment, streamlining administrative processes to ensure transparency and accountability at all levels.
Recognizing Ludhiana’s industrial significance, Jain announced the establishment of a special cell to provide fast-track approvals and timely resolution of grievances for MSMEs and industries. This initiative aims to boost economic growth and create a business-friendly ecosystem.
Additionally, Jain emphasized the timely delivery of services to citizens, ensuring that welfare schemes and public services are accessible and hassle-free. He reiterated his dedication to the effective implementation of the state government’s flagship programs, with a focus on improving the quality of life for Ludhiana’s residents along with making ludhiana a clean and green city.
Upon his arrival, Jain was welcomed at the District Administration Complex with a ceremonial guard of honor presented by a contingent of the Punjab Police.
The new DC called for the cooperation of all stakeholders in achieving these goals. He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to working tirelessly for the district’s development and welfare.
