Himmat Singh Makes IPL Debut for Lucknow Super Giants, Replaces Mitchell Marsh

Know the Rising Star Replacing the Orange Cap Contender

New Delhi, April 12, 2025 (Yes PunjabNews)

Delhi batter Himmat Singh, 28, has earned his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) call-up, making his debut for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He steps into the playing XI as a replacement for star Australian batsman Mitchell Marsh, who is unavailable for the match against the Gujarat Titans to attend to his unwell daughter.

Marsh’s absence is a significant one for LSG, as he currently holds the third position in the Orange Cap race with an impressive 265 runs from five matches, including four half-centuries and one duck.

Who is Himmat Singh? A Rising Talent from Delhi:

Himmat Singh brings a solid T20 record to the Lucknow Super Giants. He has played 55 T20 matches for Delhi, accumulating 917 runs at a striking strike rate of 133. His recent performances in domestic T20 cricket have been noteworthy. In the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India’s premier domestic T20 competition, Himmat scored 197 runs in 8 innings at an impressive strike rate of 148.

Furthermore, he showcased his batting prowess in the Delhi Premier League, where he notched up 381 runs in 10 innings. Only Priyansh Arya and his new LSG teammate Ayush Badoni scored more runs in the tournament. Interestingly, Priyansh Arya has already made a significant impact in IPL 2025, having recently smashed a century for the Punjab Kings against the Chennai Super Kings.

All eyes will now be on Himmat Singh as he gets his opportunity to shine on the grand IPL stage. Can this promising Delhi batter follow in Arya’s footsteps and make a memorable debut for the Lucknow Super Giants?
