Guru Nanak Dev University Signs Pact with Amandeep Hospital to Boost Physiotherapy Training and Research

Amritsar, April 10, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and industry-oriented learning, Guru Nanak Dev University has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amandeep Hospital, marking a significant step towards strengthening clinical education and research in physiotherapy.

The initiative, undertaken under the visionary leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh, aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world medical practice. The collaboration will enable students of the Department of Physiotherapy to gain hands-on clinical exposure through internships and structured training programmes at the hospital.

The MoU was formally signed by Registrar Prof. K.S. Chahal on behalf of Guru Nanak Dev University and Mr. Gaurav Khurana, CEO of Amandeep Hospital in the presence of Dean Academic Affairs Prof. H.S. Saini, Dr. Navdeep Singh Sodhi, Coordinator, University Linkage Programme and othe officials from the University and the Hospital.

Prof. Chahal said that the MoU reflects Guru Nanak Dev University’s progressive approach towards integrating academic learning with professional practice. “Such collaborations play a pivotal role in preparing students for future challenges in the healthcare sector while enhancing their employability,” he said.

He remarked that the Vice-Chancellor’s emphasis on academic innovation, industry collaboration and student welfare has significantly strengthened the university’s academic framework, enabling it to align with global standards while remaining rooted in societal needs.

He said that the agreement will also pave the way for joint research initiatives, case-based learning, clinical studies and community outreach programmes focused on health awareness and public welfare.

Experts believe that this synergy between academia and healthcare services will contribute not only to student development but also to improved patient care through innovation and evidence-based practices.

Prof. Sodhi said that initially valid for five years, the agreement is extendable by mutual consent. The collaboration is being seen as another milestone in Guru Nanak Dev University’s ongoing efforts to expand its academic horizons under the dynamic leadership of the Vice-Chancellor and to emerge as a hub of excellence in professional education.
