GNDU to Establish Skill Development Centre in Collaboration with NSDC

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) is set to establish a Skill Development Centre under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. This initiative was proposed following a visit by Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura, Adviser to the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for the Skill India International Mission, who met with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh and other senior officials.

Government Recognizes GNDU’s Academic Excellence

Dr. Kaura highlighted the importance of skill-based education in enhancing employment prospects for young graduates, both within India and internationally. The Government of India has selected Guru Nanak Dev University for this initiative due to its academic excellence, cutting-edge infrastructure, and expertise in research and training.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh emphasized that graduates should receive industry-relevant training to empower them as entrepreneurs and skilled professionals.

He welcomed the proposal and assured that a formal request for the centre’s establishment would be submitted soon. He expressed confidence that this initiative would significantly benefit the youth, enhancing their career opportunities globally.

GNDU to Launch 53 Skill-Based Courses

As part of this initiative, GNDU will introduce 53 new certificate and diploma courses focused on skill development. The university, which boasts the highest NAAC accreditation score (3.85/4.0) among Indian universities, will offer training in finance, healthcare, management, computer science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Meeting Attended by Senior University Officials

The meeting, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh, was attended by prominent university officials, including Prof. Palwinder Singh, Prof. Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Prof. Harvinder Singh Saini, Prof. Vasudha Sambhyal, Prof. Balwinder Singh, Prof. Subheet Kumar Jain, Prof. Arvinder Kaur, Prof. P.K. Pati, Prof. Pooja Chadha, Dr. Tejwant Singh, and Dr. Amit Chhabra.

This collaboration marks a major step in equipping students with industry-relevant skills, ensuring better career prospects and global employment opportunities.
