Er. Karandeep Singh Sodhi, an alumnus of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar has been awarded with the “Canadian Section Student Support Grant” for presenting his research work in the Annual Meeting & Expo 2025 of the American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS) at Portland, Oregon, USA.
Dr. Amritpal Kaur, Prof. & Head, Department of Food Science & Technology, Guru Nanak Dev University said that the AOCS, founded in 1909, is an international scientific society having its presence in over 90 countries with more than 4500 members.
In the AOCS Annual Meeting, Er. Sodhi gave an oral presentation on his research work entitled “Stabilization of Emulsions Prepared using Sub-critically extracted Hydrolyzed Canola Proteins using a Bilayer Interfacial Approach”.
Last year, in the Annual Meeting & Expo 2024 of the AOCS held at Montréal, Québec, Canada, Er. Sodhi won “Audience Choice” award for his poster presentation. Er. Sodhi is also a recipient of prestigious J.M. Bell Postgraduate Scholarship in Animal Nutrition by the “J.M. Bell and the Canola Council of Canada”.
This award is given in recognition of academic excellence to full time postgraduate students pursuing studies in animal nutrition with specific interest in canola utilization.
Presently, he is pursuing master’s degree, with scholarship funding, at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada. Er. Sodhi is also a recipient of FABS Devolved Scholarship awarded by the Department of Food and Bioproduct Sciences, University of Saskatchewan.
Earlier, he completed B.Tech. (Food Technology) from the Department of Food Science and Technology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. During his stay in the University, he participated actively in the GNDU’s Food and Fitness Club as its Core Committee Member.
