Ghallughara Diwas passes off peacefully as CP Gurpreet Bhullar-led Commissionerate Police remains vigilant

The Ghallughara Diwas passed off peacefully in the city as despite of scorching heat the senior officers of the Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today remained in the field to keep a strict vigil over the law and situation.

Under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, senior Police Officers including Deputy Commissioners of Police Mr. Gurmit Singh and Mr. PBS Parmar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms. D Sudharvizhi and others around 1200 Police personnel remained deployed in the city throughout the day to keep a strict vigil over law and situation.

At vulnerable place the Commissionerate Police had also deployed the Riot Control Vehicle and the Anti-Riot Police to deal with any sort of situation. The Commissioner of Police himself reviewed the security arrangements at vulnerable areas like Bhagwan Valmiki ji (Jyoti) Chowk, Skylark Chowk, Guru Nanak Mission Chowk and others.

Mr. Bhullar also passed on the necessary directions to the Police officers/ officials on duty to maintain law and order at every cost.

Divulging more details about the security arrangements, the Commissioner of Police said that the Commissionerate Police was duty-bound to maintain law and order in the city. He said that during the entire week from June 1-6 elaborate security arrangements were put in place by the Commissionerate Police.

Mr. Bhullar said that around 1200 Police personnel including one company of the Special Operation Group (SOG) and three of the Punjab Armed Police were deployed to tackle any sort of untoward incident.

The Commissioner of Police said that along with maintaining law and order to focus of the Commissionerate Police was also on instilling a sense of confidence amongst the people of the city.

Mr. Bhullar also thanked the wise residents of the city for upholding glorious tradition of Jalandhar by exercising restraint thereby firming up the ethos of communal harmony, peace, brotherhood and amity.
