A delegation from the FlyAmritsar Initiative (FAI) and Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM) met with Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport’s newly appointed Director Sh. S.K Kapahi, to discuss necessary improvements in passenger services.
The delegation included AVM Patron Dr. Charanjit Singh Gumtala, Principal Kulwant Singh Ankhi, and Manmohan Singh Brar, along with Global Convener of FAI and Overseas Secretary of AVM, Sameep Singh Gumtala from the USA and Secretary AVM and Convener India of FAI, Yogesh Kamra.
During the meeting, delegation warmly welcomed the new Director and brought to his attention various concerns related to enhancing the overall passenger experience at the airport.
The discussion focused on the need for early implementation of the inline X-ray baggage screening system, improvement in the availability of trolleys at both departure and arrival areas and addressing complaints regarding overcharging by the parking contractor.
Other issues raised included the need to regulate meet-and-greet and pick up-and-drop-off services, activation of Wi-Fi services for passengers, and improvements in the behavior of airport staff.
The delegation also stressed the importance of modernizing public toilet facilities both inside and outside the terminal and highlighted the urgency of terminal expansion to accommodate the increasing volume of passengers.
The discussion took place in a cordial atmosphere, with Director Kapahi responding positively and assuring that necessary steps would be taken to resolve the issues discussed.
Following the meeting with the Director, the delegation also engaged with officials from companies handling group operations at the airport and the airline station managers to emphasize the need for better service and to ensure an improved travel experience for all passengers.
