Events at Anandpur Sahib dedicated to 400th Parkash Purab postponed, Hola Mahalla to be celebrated: Bibi Jagir Kaur

Various Gurmat Samagams which were scheduled to be held by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) at Sri Anandpur Sahib from March 24 to March 28, to mark 400th birth anniversary of the ninth Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib have been postponed till March 31.

Meanwhile, the ceremonies related to the Hola Mohalla will be celebrated with Khalsai Jaho-Jalal (awe-inspiring appearance) like every year.

Following discussions with the SGPC members on Saturday, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The programmes of Hola Mohalla would be celebrated with Khalsai Jaho-Jalal like every year. Special functions dedicated to the 400th Prakash Purab Shatabdi of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Sri Anandpur Sahib scheduled from March 24 to 28, have been postponed. The new dates of these functions would be decided after April 1.”

Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “In the centenary celebrations related to the 400th birth anniversary of the ninth Guru at Sri Anandpur Sahib, there were also ceremonies of students of schools and colleges, but as per the directions of the health department, educational institutions have been closed till March 31. It is not possible to involve students in such a situation.”

SGPC president said that the ceremonies to be celebrated on the occasion of Hola Mohalla would be like every year in which the sangat would be involved.

Bibi Jagir Kaur also clarified that on the occasion of Hola Mohalla, the Rupnagar district administration has made the Covid-19 test mandatory only for international pilgrims. She said that the deputy commissioner of Rupnagar had spoken to her on phone and clarified that no such condition had been imposed on the pilgrims of the country.
