Educational Institutions & Arts & Cultural Organizations should work together: Dr. Surjit Patar

The Punjab University Chandigarh has won the overall trophy of Dr. MS Randhawa Heritage Cup which is being celebrated by the Punjab Arts Council here at Punjab Kala Bhawan and Punjabi University Patiala won the overall second prize. Dr. Surjit Patar, Chairman, Punjab Arts Council distributed the prizes to the winners.

Addressing participating and winning students during the prize distribution ceremony, Dr. Surjit Patar said that people have the skills to enjoy life in the folk arts which gives us a closer view of life. He said that people associated with public-handicrafts are diligent, honest and capable of understanding the feelings of others.

He said that our educational institutions were playing great role in preserving heritage arts which should be further encouraged.

Mr. Patar further said that Educational institutions and Arts & Cultural organizations should work together for the personality the personality development of Youth. ‘In the technology dominated era these institutes are putting their best efforts to keep these diminishing heritage arts alive and attract young generations, said Dr. Patar.

In the Heritage Quiz competition, Government College Hoshiarpur got first position, Punjabi University Patiala Campus won second and Babar Akali Memorial College Gaushankar got third place, while Dasmesh Girls College (Badal) and Govt. Girls college for Girls Ludhiana were given consolation prizes. In Fan Knitting (Pakhi Bunana) Dasmesh Girls College Badal first, Guru Nanak Girls College Ludhiana second and Government College Sector 42 Chandigarh got third prize, In Khiddo making BCM College Ludhiana 1st, Atmat Valve Jain College Ludhiana Second and Shaheed Om Singh Government College Sunam got Third prize, in Phulkari Bhag Singh Khalsa College Kala Tiba Abohar first, Atman Valve Jain College Ludhiana second and Ratewal College got third prize,

in Baag making Bhag Singh Khalsa College Kala Tibba first, Ramgarhia Girls College Ludhiana second and Guru Nanak College Budhlada got third prize, in Guddian Patole Sant Baba Bhag Singh College Sukhanand first, Ramgarhia Girls College Ludhiana and Dashmesh Girls College Badal second, Guru Nanak Khalsa College Ludhiana third, in Chikko making Ramgarhia Girls College Ludhiana first, Atam Valav Jain College Ludhiana second and Guru Nanak College Budhlada third, in Paranda making Ramgarhia Girls College Ludhiana got first position, Dasmesh Girls College Badal got second and Government College girls Ludhiana got third place.

Judges of various competitions were Prof. Kirpal Kazak, Jashmer Dhat and Madam Karamjit Kaur and quiz competition was conducted by Pritam Singh Rupal.
