To commemorate the 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Education Department organized turban tying competition in which students from government schools across the district participated.
Divulging the details, the District Education Officer (Secondary) Mr Harinder Pal Singh said that the main aim behind organizing the competition was to perpetuate the life and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji amongst our future generations.
He said the motive of the competition was to encourage the youths to follow the path shown by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and remain attached with the Sikh traditions.
Mr Harinder Pal Singh said that the department was laying major thrust on making the students an integral part of the mega celebrations to celebrate 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The District Education Officer said that after the competition, the students were exhorted to follow Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings in their lives.
He further said that the department has been organizing more competitions like painting, declamation and others to make the students abreast of the teachings and life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
