Ferozepur, September 24, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

In the wake of the horrible accident occurred last year’s Dussehra event on the railway tracks of Amritsar, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Chander Gaind has decided to designate a single venue to celebrate Dussehra event in the city.

The tragic and catastrophic incident claimed nearly 61 lives and left many injured during Dussehra celebration last year. To ensure optimum safety to the devotees there will be a single designated place to celebrate the event i.e. Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium and the permission for other places will not be granted by the district administration, said the deputy commissioner

Divulging more, Mr. Gaind said that multiple celebrations cause safety hazards as some of the events take place without any intimation to the concerned authorities, whereas a large number of the unplanned events cause traffic hindrance and other security concerns. He further added that it would be easy for the security forces and the traffic police to undertake multiple tasks at a single location to ensure safety, security and smooth traffic flow as well as easing the people to access the designated place.

The deputy commissioner called upon various religious and social organizations to come forward to celebrate this festival of victory and virtue together so that a mega-event can be organized with combined efforts and amplified resources of various organizations.
