DSGMC to provide packaged food packets in Spl trains running for migrants at Delhi Railway Stations

In a noble gesture, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee will provide free packed food packets langar service for migrant workers, pilgrims and stranded students traveling in special nonstop trains back to their homes.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee will provide packed vegetarian food packed kits to all homebound passengers for entire travel period said Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee here today.

He said that the distribution of free food packets will start from Monday onwards and the volunteers of DSGMC will distribute these food packets to railways passengers at New Delhi Railways Station, Old Delhi Railways Station, Nizammudin, Anand Vihar Railways station, etc, etc depending on the route of the train and demand for the food packets.

He said that these langar cooked food packets will be distributed to each and every needy passenger irrespective of caste, creed, or religion, and additional food packets if required by any passengers, will also be provided to them to make their journey comfortable.

He said that DSGMC volunteers will coordinate with local railways platform authorities for ensuring timely distribution to each passenger before the train is moved out of the railway station. He said that every effort will be made to provide a fresh, hot and nutritious langar meal to homebound passengers standard at various states due to national wide lockdown to make their journey memorable and comfortable.

The langar will be prepared by professionals who have been working in the gurdwaras for several years. In the past couple of weeks, these cooks have been working around 15-16 hours every day to meet the growing demand for meals.

One mini truck of the gurdwara will be used to transport langar to various railways stations from time to time.

Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) is on the forefront to fight COVID 19 and already providing food packets to around one lakh standard migrant workers and other needy persons from its Gurdwaras located at various places in the national capital said Manjinder Singh Sirsa President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee here today.

The Delhi Police team led by Central DCP Eish Singhal undertook ‘parikrama’ of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib on April 27/,2020 to express gratitude to DSGMC for their commitment and support to Delhi Police in battling the coronavirus pandemic.

DSGMC has been providing cooked meals for over one lakh standard migrant and other needy people on a daily basis through its various gurdwaras located in the national capital since the nationwide lockdown was announced on March 25, 2020

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Delhi Police for its gesture towards the Sikh community as they paid obeisance at the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib as a mark of respect for the gurudwara providing meals to the needy during the nationwide lockdown.

“Good gesture by the Delhi Police. Our Gurudwaras have been doing exceptional work in serving people. Their compassion is appreciable,” Prime Minister Modi said in a tweet on April 27, 2020

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has provided accommodation to around 200 doctors and paramedical staff deployed on COVID 19 duties of AIIMS, Safdarjung hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia, Lady Hardinge Hospital, at its Serai at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj,Gurdwara Moti Bagh Dhaula Kuan , Gurdwara Bangla Sahib New Delhi .

DSGMC is taking care of accommodation and food for doctors, nurses and all those involved in treating COVID and will continuously make every efforts to make their stay safe , secure and convenient so as their resolve to Covid 19 is further strengthened said Manjinder Singh Sirsa President DSGMC here today.
