Election of the new Executive Board of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) can be postponed for an unspecified period.
While giving details in this regard, Mr. Inder Mohan Singh, Expert in Delhi Gurdwara Affairs said that although the Delhi Gurdwara Elections Director has completed the Co-option process by calling a meeting recently on 5th January wherein apart from a representative of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), another President out of the registered Singh Sabha Gurdwaras of Delhi was Co-opted.
But Gazette notification of the Singh Sabha President has still not been published despite a lapse of 3 days whereas the nominee of SGPC has been notified immediately on 6th January.
Mr Inder Mohan Singh, while putting the role of Delhi Government as doubtful asked whether the election of DSGMC Executive Board can be held before January 20, 2022 without completing the notification process and what are the intentions of the Government to delay such Notification ?
While giving more information, Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that 2 petitions regarding Co-option of Singh Sabha Presidents are pending in the Delhi High Court which are scheduled for hearing on January 13, 2022.
He said that these petitions will not likely to be decided on that day because as per law the newly inducted Singh Sabha President will also be required to be included as a Respondent party.
Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that there are also apprehensions that the Court may ask to defer already 5 months delayed election of the DSGMC Executive Board till the matter is disposed of. He said that in these circumstances the day to day work of the DSGMC can be badly affected.
