Dr. Ravjot Singh lays Foundation Stone of Rs.10.61-cr Sewerage Project in Alawalpur

Chandigarh/Alawalpur, Dec 3, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

In a significant step towards improving sanitation facilities in Alawalpur town, Punjab Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for a ₹10.61 crore sewerage project.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister stated that the project aims to transform Alawalpur into one of Punjab’s cleanest towns by addressing its long-standing sewerage waste management issues.

The project, catering to a population of 10,452, will include an 896-meter intercepting sewerage line, a two MLD sewerage treatment plant (STP), a main pumping station, a 100-meter rising line, and a screening chamber.

Dr. Ravjot Singh highlighted that the current disposal of wastewater into the village pond has caused pollution of this water body. The new system will ensure that all wastewater is treated at the STP and reused for irrigation, benefiting nearby farmers and making the village pond pollution-free.

Dr. Ravjot Singh emphasized the Punjab Government’s commitment to urban and rural development, noting that numerous projects have been launched across the state to uplift living standards. “There is no shortage of funds for development, and Punjab is setting new benchmarks in infrastructure development,” he added. This initiative marks another milestone in the state’s journey toward sustainable development.

Prominent amongst those present in the event included Halqa Incharge Jeet Lal Bhatti, ADC (UD) Jasbir Singh, President MC Alawalpur Neelam Rani, Chief Engineer Satnam Singh, Superintending Engineer Ashish Rai, Executive Engineer Jatin Vasudeva, and EO Municipal Council Alawalpur Ramjit Singh.
