The Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab), under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NBCC (India) Limited for major infrastructure development projects worth ₹201 crore on Tuesday.
The project for construction works, covering a built-up area of 41,705 sqm, includes the construction of an academic block, a 400-seater girls’ hostel, a 600-seater boys’ hostel, a 100-seater international students’ hostel, and the Vice-Chancellor’s residence.
During the MoU signing ceremony, Dr. Vijay Sharma, Registrar, CU Punjab, and Er. Vijay Kumar, Chief General Manager (Engg.), NBCC signed the MoU in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tiwari.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tiwari emphasized the significance of these new facilities for the university’s expansion and expressed confidence in NBCC’s ability to deliver high-quality construction on time.
Er. Saurabh Gupta, Executive Engineer, shared details about the project timeline, stating that NBCC will submit building maps by April 25, with completion expected in 30 months.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Er. Viney Khullar, AGM and Er. Akshit from NBCC.
On this occasion, senior university officials, including Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kiran Hazarika, Dean Incharge Academics Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Director R&D Prof. Anjana Munshi, Dr. Rajkumar Sharma, Finance Officer; Prof. P.K. Mishra, and members of the Building Committee were present.
