The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Raikot Assembly constituency, Jagtar Singh Jagga Hissowal wrote a letter to the Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, demanding stern action against the private CT scan centres fleecing the patients amid the Covid-19 scare.
In the letter to the Health Minister, Jagtar Singh Hissowal stated that Mandi Mullanpur Dakha-based Alfa Diagnostics (CT Scan Centre) in the district, which is being run by Dr Sameer Garg was violating the government guidelines and charging more than the prescribed fee for CT scans and other X- rays.
Hissowal stated that as per the government instructions, the fee for CT scans required for the treatment of patients suffering from Covid has been fixed at Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,000 maximum; but ALFA Diagnostics was charging Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 as fee from the patients, which is a violation of the government guidelines.
The AAP leader said that under the guise of Covid, Dr Sameer Garg was harassing the poor by doing black marketing. Hissowal demanded the Health Minister to take appropriate action and revoke the license of Mandi Mullanpur-based Alfa Diagnostics centre run by Dr Sameer Garg in this regard.
