Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that every passenger arriving at the Adampur Airport via domestic flights would be tested Covid by Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test at the Airport itself.
In a communiqué to the officers of the district administration and the Health department, the Deputy Commissioner categorically said that as per the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh all domestic passengers who belong to Punjab, arriving in state at airports at Mohali, Amritsar, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Ludhiana would be tested for covid by RT-PCR at the airport.
He said that after the test the patient would be allowed to go home and their name, address, mobile number and other details would be noted down. Mr. Sharma said that after the receipt of result, if tested positive, the person would be shifted to government isolation facility as per health protocol.
However, the Deputy Commissioner said that if tested negative, the person would be kept in home quarantine for a period of 14 days. He said that such persons would self monitor their health status and would report to nearest government health facility in case of development of any symptoms of Covid. Mr. Sharma asked all the concerned officers to ensure meticulous implementation of the directions of the state government.
The Deputy Commissioner unequivocally said that any sort of discrepancy in this noble cause was totally unwarranted and undesirable. He said that it was all the more important to ensure that the spread of Corona Virus was checked in the state. Mr. Sharma said that around 3000 persons stranded in other states were expected to come to district.
