Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab’s Senior Leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema reminded Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi about Congress’s promise of complete debt waiver in 2017 and asked whether this masla (issue) of farmers’ loans would be resolved or not.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Sunday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Congress government had, of course, run away from its promise to write off the entire debt of farmers and workers. But the entire Congress party, including the Chief Minister Channi, is answerable to the annadatas wheather they thought even for a moment before betraying them or not?
Harpal Singh Cheema said that in 2017, Congress had not only promised in its election manifesto a complete debt waiver for the farmers and laborers but they also got forms filled for the same from the farmers. But after 4 years and 10 months, not even 5% of the debt has been cleared. Mr. Cheema said that farmers and laborers of Punjab owed more than Rs.1.5 lakh crore to the organized and unorganized sector. Does the Channi government dare to issue a white paper on total debt waiver on the basis of villages?
Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema said that Chief Minister Mr. Channi was falsely propagating that had spent crores of rupees from the government treasury to waive the debts of the farmers. Such false propaganda is nothing less than a double deception with our farmers.
Cheema challenged Chief Minister Channi to issue only lists of waived loans of cooperative banks, societies, land mortgage banks and state-owned banks in the villages if his Congress government had waived the loans of farmers and farm laborers, and dared him to fight 2022 assembly elections on this very issue.
Cheema said that Arvind Kejriwal had made promises with the people during the 2015 elections in Delhi too, so, in 2022 elections AAP in Delhi had sought votes from the people of Delhi, saying that if the promises were fulfilled, then vote for AAP and not then don’t cast your vote in favor of AAP?
Cheema said that for the first time in the history of the country, votes were sought on the basis of work done in previous tenure and a record victory was achieved as the Kejriwal model was not anything like Congress, who only believe in hollow promises and false pretenses. On these bases, today the Aam Aadmi Party is seeking only one chance from the people of Punjab in the upcoming 2022 elections.
