Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab said that Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi did not spare even school children for making false announcements as winter has started but despite the announcement Channi government hasn’t provided students of government schools with the uniforms.
And his Education Minister Pargat Singh is trying to cover up the dilapidated condition of government schools by merely painting the gates and walls of government schools. The Chief Minister and the Education Minister should explain why more than 5,000 government schools have become defaulters of Powercom. Can any school be smart without electricity connection?
In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Thursday, senior party leader and MLA Principal Budh Ram said that for the last 35-40 years, the Congress and Badal-BJP governments have conspired with the private sector against government schools, colleges, dispensaries and hospitals, so education and healthcare suffered the most. Due to which today the condition of these sectors is pitiable.
But our Chief Minister Channi and Education Minister Pargat Singh, like Captain and the Badals, are trying hide and deceit the people of Punjab, instead of acknowledging the reality. It is a different matter that the people and parents in Punjab are neither believing in Channi’s fake announcements nor accepting the claims of Pargat Singh.
The AAP leader said that Pargat Singh had become the butt of jokes with the challenge of comparing Delhi government schools and Punjab government schools. He said that winter is in full swing in Punjab but the announcement of Chief Minister Channi to provide school uniforms to all the students studying in government schools is proving to be hollow like the rest of his promises.
The MLA said the Channi government should spare school children from election drama because the children in government schools are mostly from ordinary and poor families. Lying and giving false hopes to such innocents is like making joke about their helplessness and poverty, which does not suit any government or political party.
Principal Budh Ram said that according to the latest reports more than 5000 government schools in Punjab are defaulters of Powercom (Power Department), meaning these government schools could not even pay the electricity bill. This unfortunate situation is a slap in the face of the Punjab Government and it tells the reality of Punjab Government’s claim of being number one in school education.
Principal Budh Ram said that people of Punjab are well aware that traditional parties like Congress, Akali and BJP could never improve the public education and healthcare system of Punjab. Only the Kejriwal model can transform government schools and hospitals like he has done in Delhi.
In this regard, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has given a fourth guarantee in Punjab that every child born in the state would be provided with the best education in government schools absolutely free of cost. Therefore, the people of Punjab should give a chance to Aam Aadmi Party in 2022.
