In a major success, the Commissionerate Police on Friday have arrested the fifth accused named Arshad Khan, a resident of Garha, from Nakodar Chowk, Jalandhar City.
Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the Special Investigation team and Division No 6 Police in a joint operation have successfully nabbed the remaining accused who was on a run after the crime.
Earlier, the police teams have arrested four of the accused including main accused Ashish Bahal and Kingpin Jyoti, who was a resident of Ludhiana District. The CP said that the investigation officers are questioning the arrested accused to further probe the matter and would be presented before the court.
Mr. Bhullar said that the SIT has worked round the clock to arrest all the accused besides ensuring fast track investigation in the case. Now, five accused including Sohit Sharma, Jyoti, Ashish Bahal, Inder, and Arshad Khan have been nabbed by the Police.
The CP stated that the SIT would furnish its investigation in a time-bound manner so that a charge-sheet against the accused could be presented before the court at the earliest to ensure timely justice to the victim.
