Chief Khalsa Diwan, an esteemed organization dedicated to Sikhism and education, inaugurated today Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School at Batala’s Urban Estate. The inaugural ceremony was performed by CKD President Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar amidst CKD office bearers and members.
The event was themed “Gurmat and Sikh Virsa,” celebrating Sikh heritarge and values. Following the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, students performed various kirtans, adding a spiritual essence to the occasion.
President Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar commented that this school is dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of Bhai Vir Singh Ji, as per a resolution passed during the 67th CKD World Sikh Educational Conference.
He expressed his pride in expanding the network of CKD institutions, now comprising 48 schools. He emphasized that with the launch of this ultra-modern school, CKD would continue its mission to empower the youth by blending modern education with Sikh values and heritage.
CKD Honorary Secretary S. Swinder Singh Kathunangal shared details about the school’s advanced infrastructure built on two acres.
He said that a basement and four-storey building would include fully air-conditioned classrooms equipped with interactive digital panels, State-of-the-art labs for computer, science, mathematics and English language proficiency, a well stocked modern library and music rooms,an international-level sports hall and play grounds,a conference hall and an auditorium with advanced audio-visual facilities.
He informed that regular medical check-ups would be conducted to ensure students’ health and well-being.
The inaugural ceremony featured exhibitions celebrating Sikh heritage including Sikh spiritual and cultural arts display, Showcases of ancient Tanti Saaz and traditional Sikh Shstra ,Exhibits of modern technological advancements, Health and wellness stalls, Traditional and modern sports demonstrations.
A special highlight of the event was Gatka, the traditional Sikh martial art, performed by 4 years old CKD student with great enthusiasm. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Hon. Secy. S. Swinder Singh Kathunangal.

Jaspal Singh Dhillon(Additional Honorary Secretary) along with other CKD members and a large number of staff, students and parents were present.
