UNITED SIKHS reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the livelihoods of commercial truck drivers after widespread commercial driver’s license (CDL) cancellations left many workers and their families without income or clear paths to due process.
To address the urgent needs of these essential workers, UNITED SIKHS is supporting a community-led GoFundMe campaign to provide direct assistance, legal navigation and family support for impacted drivers.
Commercial truck drivers, many of whom support entire households, have faced sudden and destabilizing loss of their CDLs due to administrative decisions, regulatory actions or procedural discrepancies.
These cancellations have immediate economic consequences, including loss of employment, disruption of family stability, and mounting financial strain for workers who keep supply chains moving across the country.
To complement UNITED SIKHS’ ongoing advocacy including legal efforts, outreach, and rights-protection work, the GoFundMe initiative is designed to ensure that drivers have access to:
• Legal support and advocacy to challenge wrongful or unclear cancellations
• Reinstatement resources to help cover administrative or reinstatement costs
• Temporary financial assistance to support families during this transitional period
• Community outreach and navigation assistance for affected households
UNITED SIKHS has been at the forefront of civil and human rights efforts for marginalized communities, including sustained engagement on issues related to trucking industry fairness, nondiscrimination, and due process.
In recent months, the organization has submitted formal statements, participated in court proceedings, and met with policymakers to articulate the human and economic costs of CDL disruption.
“When workers lose their means to support their families overnight, it represents not only an economic crisis but a moral one.
Our community is stepping forward with solutions grounded in dignity, access to justice and equitable support.” added Bhupinder Kaur.
This fundraiser represents the best of community solidarity: direct support for workers when systems have failed them.
Community members who wish to support these essential workers and their families are encouraged to contribute and share the campaign:
