Bathinda, May 5, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

In a forward-looking step to strengthen the link between school education and higher studies, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, hosted a conclave of government and private senior secondary school principals at its auditorium.

The conclave was themed “Building Strong Pathways from School Education to Higher Learning (From Foundations to Futures).” The event brought together educators on a common platform to exchange ideas and explore practical ways to better prepare students for the transition to higher education. The Chief Guest, District Education Officer, Mrs. Mamta Khurana graced the occasion.

Welcoming the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma highlighted the core objective of the conclave—to foster mutual understanding between schools and the university, and to explore expectations on both sides for strengthening academic transitions.

He further emphasized that universities must move beyond conventional roles to actively mentor, guide, and co-create future-ready pathways for students in collaboration with schools. He noted that such platforms are crucial for aligning curricula with evolving industry demands and for nurturing innovation, critical thinking, and lifelong learning among students.

Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Head of the Corporate Resource Centre and programme coordinator, introduced the university and delivered a motivational address outlining its infrastructure, academic programmes, and student facilities.

In her keynote address, Mrs. Mamta Khurana emphasized the importance of channelizing students’ energy and bridging the gap between school and higher education. She noted that students possess immense potential, and initiatives like this help provide them with direction and purpose.

She underlined the need for strong connections between students and higher education institutions, encouraging self-reflection with the idea of “Who am I, what am I, and what should I do?” as a guiding life philosophy.

She further stressed that a positive and energetic mindset can guide students toward the right path, adding that education must instill values, social responsibility, and a spirit of contributing to society.

A panel discussion, moderated by MRSPTU Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Prof. Ashish Baldi, followed the keynote. The panel included Mrs. Mamta Khurana; MRSPTU Associate Dean Dr. Amit Bhatia; Dr. Rajesh Gupta; Mr. Mandeep Malra (National President All India School Association); Ms. Anju Nagpal (Educationist and CBSE resource person); and Principal Gurdardhan Singh. Participating principals actively engaged with the panel.

Key themes of the discussion included strengthening school–university coordination, skill development, entrepreneurship, implementation of the National Education Policy, moral values, character building, and the establishment of effective career guidance and pathway systems.

The event concluded with Vice Chancellor Prof. Sharma felicitating the chief guest and participating principals. Registrar Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar delivered the vote of thanks, expressing confidence that such initiatives would significantly contribute to strengthening the educational foundation of students. Campus Director Prof, Sarabjit Kaur Bath, Deans, Directors and faculty were also present on the occasion
