Bomb Threat Email Triggers Evacuation at Patiala School; Punjab Police on High Alert

Patiala, December 23, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

Panic gripped students, parents, and staff after a private school in Patiala received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday morning, marking the latest in a series of similar threats targeting educational institutions across Punjab in recent days.

According to police officials, the threatening email was received at the official email address of Ryan International Global School in Urban Estate Phase-2 around 9:30 am. Acting swiftly, school authorities evacuated the campus as a precautionary measure and alerted the police.

Teams from the Punjab Police reached the spot within minutes. An anti-sabotage squad carried out a thorough search of the school premises using specialised bomb detection tools to check for any explosive material.

Confirming the incident, Varun Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patiala, said the threat was handled with utmost seriousness. He stated that bomb disposal equipment and sniffer dogs were deployed, and no explosive device was found during the initial inspection.

“As an added precaution, another round of checking will be conducted. The school management was advised to declare a holiday for Tuesday in the interest of safety,” the SSP said.

He further informed that the cyber wing of the Punjab Police has initiated an investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email. Efforts are underway to identify the IP address and determine the location—country and state—from where the message was sent.

The SSP noted that although only one school in Patiala received the threat, several other schools in the city also opted to remain closed as a preventive step. He appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid panic.

The incident comes close on the heels of similar bomb threat emails sent to schools in Amritsar on December 12 and to as many as 11 schools in Jalandhar on December 14. In all cases, anti-sabotage teams conducted extensive searches, but no explosives were recovered. Schools were, however, closed for the day as a safety measure.

Police officials said that despite multiple incidents across cities, the source of the threat emails has not yet been identified. Investigations are ongoing, and security agencies remain on heightened alert to prevent any untoward incident.
