Aam Aadmi Party’s State Chief Spokesperson, MLA, and former Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a sharp political attack on the traditional parties that held power in Punjab until the second fortnight of 2022.
He stated that these previous governments, through their alleged misgovernance and corrupt policies, institutionalized major social evils like corruption, gangsterism, drugs, and unemployment. He remarked that the people of Punjab were pushed into a whirlpool of misery and a path of alleged “genocide” of the youth’s future.
Dhaliwal emphasized that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has broken the chains of this suffering during its initial four-year tenure. To completely eradicate these social evils, the Mann government is dedicating its full strength in the remaining term to deeply study the root causes created by previous governments since Independence.
Dhaliwal was addressing direct dialogue programs with rural residents today in several villages of the Ajnala constituency, including Panj Graian Wahla, Kot Gurbakhsh, Paidewal, Kotli Jamit Singh, Thoba, and Chadpur, under the banner “Four Magnificent Years with Bhagwant Mann.”
Continuing his verbal offensive against former regimes, Dhaliwal announced that by uprooting the causes identified in their research, the Mann government would provide a regime of “Complete Revolution” for Punjab, Punjabis, and Punjabiyat in its second innings after winning the mandate in the 2027 Punjab Elections.
Key Achievements and Figures Highlighted:
Seeking stronger support from the people of Punjab to pull out social evils by their roots, Dhaliwal shared the following data:
War on Drugs: In the direct war against drug smugglers started in March 2025, the government has seized ₹760 crore worth of property and ₹15 crore in drug money from smugglers within one year. Properties built with drug money were demolished using bulldozers.
Arrests and Seizures: More than *92,000 drug traffickers* were caught red-handed. The police recovered *5,480 kg of heroin* (worth billions) and arrested *64 Hawala operators* involved in moving drug money, setting a national historical milestone.
Anti-Corruption Drive: Under the “Zero Tolerance” policy, the Vigilance Bureau was freed from political interference. Corrupt officials in the Revenue Department, Tehsil offices, Police, and other departments were arrested to ensure transparent administration.
Employment: Over 65,000 educated unemployed youth* were recruited into permanent government jobs.
Law and Order: To restore law and order, nearly *15,000 gangsters* were apprehended. This has brought Punjab’s crime rate to half the national average and significantly lower (one-third) than the neighboring state of Haryana.
