Five times Punjab Chief Minister and Akali Supremo Sardar Parkash Singh Badal today asked the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh to share with the people of Punjab why his government is not acting against Congress leaders Kushaldeep Singh Kiki Dhillon and Gurpreet Singh Kangar despite “clear evidence and written complaints against them for putting political, official and psychological pressure on the key witness in the painful Behbal Kalaan incident, leading to his death. Is this not grave enough?”
Mr Badal demanded that the accused in the eye-witness Surjit Singh’s alleged “murder through emotional torture” be arrested on charges of interfering with the due process of law and they must be questioned on the motives behind their attempts to coerce the eye witness to change his stance.
“The hapless widow of the principal eye witness has been going from pillar to post seeking action against the Congress leaders alleging that they put her husband under unbearable strain to coerce him to change his statement and tell lies on the most crucial link in the chain of sacrilege events. Why is she being denied justice?” the Akali leader asked.
The former Chief minister said it was for Amarinder, his party’s and his government now to prove their guiltlessness. One of the best ways to do so is to take credible and transparent action against his colleagues whom the unfortunate widow is accusing of killing her husband through mental torture,” said the former Chief Minister in a statement here this afternoon.
”It is more than likely that the investigation could reveal how foot -prints of sacrilege events lead to the doorsteps of the known enemies of the Panth and of the SAD.
Punjabis had not forgotten how the agents of the Congress party had set Punjab on fire in the eighties by throwing cow meat into sacred temples and cigarettes into sacred Gurdwaras and other places of worship. The same mindset and the same conspiracy is visible behind acts of sacrilege of the sacred Shri Guru Grath Sahib during the SAD BJP tenure,” said Mr Badal
“They used to ask us why we were not able to unearth the conspiracy in a year and half of our government after Behbal and Bargadi. Now twice the number of years have passed since the Amarinder Government came to power on the back of some false promises made on oath of a holy scriptures.
And at the end of these three years the only thing that has emerged is that the Congress government is merely trying to shield the guilty and suppress the wider conspiracy as they seem to be scared of the footprints leading to their door. They are clearly trying to cover some tracks, ”said Mr Badal
He said that the Congress attempts to suppress and destroy critical evidence clearly indicates that they are trying to cover their tracks as they might be dreading that footprints leading to their door steps could have been exposed by the witness.
Just when these tracks were threatening to become visible, the key witness was “killed” by putting him under material, mental and official pressure. Why is the Chief Minister keeping so mum on this ?” Mr Badal asked.
Mr Badal said that the onus is now on Amarinder and his Congress government to prove that they have not abused three years in power merely to suppress , distort or destroy evidence on the key events in the sacrilege tragedy.

The Akali stalwart said that the CM should get out of his habit of foul mouthing his opponents and critics every time he is cornered. It behoves neither his age nor the dignity of the high office he holds to keep abusing others like a rude, ill mannered teenager.
He may be young but must a CM act like a spoilt brat? He must behave is age and stature as CM. People have seen through this gambit of taking shelter behind loud, foul and abusive language merely to distract public attention and to drown criticism against him.”
The former Chief Minister said that events point directly to the Congress attempts to bury the larger conspiracy behind the sacrilege tragedy. “It is clear as daylight that the sacrilege tragedy was a conspiracy to defame the SAD-BJP government and that the conspirators benefited directly at the elections.
In any criminal investigation, the first thing to establish who benefits from the crime. In the sacrilege tragedy, it is clear not only who benefited by it but also who was seen actively working to reap the harvest of hate generated by the conspiracy” said Mr Badal.
