Amritsar MP Gurjeet Aujla active again on Loharka Flyover, late-night inspection raises public hope

Amritsar, dec 31, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

After months of public frustration due to traffic jams, dust, and poorly managed diversions, a big and positive development has emerged regarding the Loharka Road flyover. Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla late last night visited the site along with senior officials and engineers to personally review the progress of the Loharka flyover project.

During the inspection, MP Aujla held detailed discussions with officials over the flyover’s design. Standing in the middle of the road, he closely observed the existing traffic flow and explained ground-level realities to engineers, offering technical suggestions to ensure that future traffic congestion and accidents can be avoided.

He also sought a detailed progress report on the construction work and issued clear instructions to speed up the project. Work had resumed earlier after MP raised the issue It is noteworthy that when the Loharka flyover project had remained stalled for a long period, construction resumed only after MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla repeatedly raised the issue and exerted pressure on the authorities.

Following this intervention, the designs have now been finalized and construction work is currently in progress with heavy machinery on site.

Speaking during the inspection, MP Aujla stated that strict monitoring of the project will now be ensured. He emphasized that he does not hesitate to step onto the roads himself if it helps in providing relief to the public.

MP Aujla further said that the Loharka Road flyover is a crucial part of the NHAI bypass project.

Due to the construction remaining stalled for a long time, people had to face severe inconvenience.

Poorly planned diversions caused massive traffic jams during peak hours and led to accident-like situations.

Water pipeline work damaged roads and spread dust all around, making life difficult for local residents and shopkeepers.

However, he assured that relief will soon be provided to the people.

After nearly two years of delay, construction of the Loharka flyover resumed in mid-2025. Discussions are also underway to connect the flyover with the Gumtala bypass, which is expected to significantly reduce traffic pressure in this part of Amritsar.

MP Aujla’s late-night site visit and direct interaction with officials clearly sends a strong message that no further negligence will be tolerated in the Loharka flyover project. Local residents also met the MP during the visit and expressed hope that this active intervention will soon accelerate the construction work and finally bring relief from the long-standing problems they have been facing.
