The Union Home Ministry has approved Y-Plus security for Taranjit Singh Sandhu, a former Indian Ambassador to the US.
Sandhu was recently named BJP candidate for the Amritsar Parliamentary constituency.
The former Ambassador who had been actively campaigning in Amritsar even before his name was officially declared, has begun facing stiff resistance from farmers’ groups after the official declaration of his name as BJP candidate.
The farmers have been protesting against Sandhu and the BJP at various places in the state. Farmer Unions show black flags to the candidates whenever they find a chance to do so.
