Administrative Officers should use Constitutional Powers in best interest of Society: Punjab Guv Purohit

Governor of Punjab Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit has asked the administrative officers to use the powers conferred on them by the Constitution by upholding the values of ethics and in the best interest of the society.

He was here today on his maiden visit to Kapurthala district. At IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, the Governor held a meeting with the district administration and senior officials of the university.

Addressing the officials, he said that they should ensure the best use of the existing resources of the Central and State Governments.

He asked that the administrative officers should perform their duties diligently without any pressure under which they should adopt a compassionate attitude towards the common man while remaining within the ambit of law.

Apart from getting information about the economic, geographical and social aspects of the district, the Governor also take review of the functioning of PTU.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University and Principal Secretary Technical Education Punjab Mr. Ramesh Kumar Ganta IAS, Jalandhar division commissioner VK Meena , Deputy Commissioner, Deepti Uppal, IG Jalandhar Range G.S. Dhillon, SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, Registrar of the University Jaspreet Singh welcomed the Governor.

A contingent of Punjab Police and PAP police band presented the guard of honour to the Governor.

On this occasion he was accompanied by Principal Secretary Mr. J.M. Balamurgan, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Aditya Uppal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Development SP Angra and other senior officials were also present.
