Calls for Swift Action to Submit Project Proposals for Sustainable Development
New Delhi, April 23, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)
Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Punjab, has strongly appealed to the Punjab Government to expedite the submission of comprehensive project proposals worth ₹5,000 crore under the Centre’s “Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2025-26.”
Dr. Sahney revealed that he has been actively pursuing this scheme with the Union Finance Ministry for nearly a year. Following persistent efforts and detailed discussions, Punjab has already been allocated ₹994 crore under Part A of the scheme. He emphasized that the state has a significant opportunity to secure substantially more funding under the remaining categories.
According to Dr. Sahney, the revised guidelines issued on April 7, 2025, allocate ₹57,000 crore under Part A and an additional ₹63,000 crore under Parts B to E.
He highlighted that Punjab can submit proposals for crucial sectors, including irrigation, rural connectivity, healthcare, renewable energy, pollution control, and projects in aspirational districts. These components offer a transformative opportunity for Punjab to invest in sustainable and inclusive growth.
Dr. Sahney also stressed the urgency of prompt action, noting that Punjab received ₹1,582 crore under the scheme last year. With ₹994 crore already allocated this year, he warned against missing the chance to secure the remaining funds.
He further stated that utilization certificates must be submitted by March 31, 2026, and urged the state government to establish a task force to ensure the submission of thorough proposals before the end of April.
