Senior Leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) and Former Finance Minister, S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa have asked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to mark a high-level probe into the scholarships scam, as the Bhagwant Maan led government has taken strict action against the former Congress Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Sangat Singh Gilzian.
Notably, recently the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has been registered a case against Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Former Minister of Forests of Punjab and former Minister. Sangat Singh Gilzian in an alleged graft case.
In a statement issued here, S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that the SC/ST Scholarship scam is still unsolved and the former Congress Minister, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was facing serious allegations for the same. Therefore, the Mann government should immediately issue orders for a high-level inquiry into this scam as well, demanded S. Dhindsa.
S. Dhindsa said that the Aam Aadmi Party as the Opposition had made the loudest noise when this scam was reported in August 2020 but it is really unfortunate that since coming to power the Aam Aadmi Party has not taken any cognizance of the same.
The Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has not given a single statement on this and it looks like he is to cover up this scam, said S. Dhindsa. He said that now that former minister, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has been arrested by the Vigilance Bureau, the state government should also start an investigation into the SC scholarship scam so that strict action can be taken against the culprits involved in this scam.
Referring to the report of Additional Chief Secretary, Sh. Kirpa Shankar Saroj, Dhindsa said that according to the report, the then Minister, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot had direct involvement in this massive scam of Rs 63.91 crore. Which has not been investigated yet.
S. Dhindsa alleged that while remaining in the Opposition, the Aam Aadmi Party kept protesting the streets to raise their voices against the scam, they even gave long speeches outside the residence of Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in Nabha, but after coming to power, the government has chose to remain silent on this issue.
