The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly condemned the incident of dozens of men parading and assaulting two women who have been stripped naked and gang raped in Manipur. Criticizing the BJP government, AAP MLA Sarvjit Kaur Manuke said that after watching the video from Manipur, women across the country are scared and outraged. Women are feeling unsafe in the BJP government.
Addressing a press conference from the Chandigarh party headquarters on Thursday, Manuke said that instead of protecting women, the Bharatiya Janata Party, in the last nine years, only told how and what colour clothes women should wear. She was accompanied by Chairman Prabhjot Kaur and AAP leader Annu Babbar for the press conference.
Lambasting the BJP, she said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is Brij Bhushan Janata Party. Today, people like Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, accused of sexual harassment, are sitting in the BJP government. This party freed the rapists of Bilkis Bano. They protected the culprits of the Hathras rape case. The people of BJP’s IT cell abuse women on social media.
She also questioned the silence of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and said that law and order in Manipur has collapsed for the last two months, but the Prime Minister did not utter a word. She asked whether the Prime Minister was not aware of what was going on in Manipur?
She also questioned PM Modi’s promise of getting justice and said that the police have registered an FIR against some unknown people, while everyone’s face is clearly visible in the video, then on whom will action be taken?
She said that in the name of maintaining law and order, the government has shut down the internet there for the last two months. Actually the internet has been shut down to suppress the truth. She alleged that the person who exposed this video through his Twitter account, the government has got his Twitter account suspended.
