PAU Student Harvir Singh Bags Prime Minister Fellowship for Doctoral Research

Mr Harvir Singh, a Ph. D. student of the Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has brought laurels to the University by bagging the prestigious Prime Minister Fellowship for his doctoral research.

The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and a private partner Dhaliwal Agro, had awarded this fellowship for a period of four years.

Mr Singh was working on “Crop and water productivity of rice-wheat-summer maize cropping system in relation to irrigation and rice residue management”, under the supervision of Dr Ajmer Singh Brar, Principal Agronomist, Department of Agronomy, PAU.

Dr Brar informed that, apart from traditional approaches, information generated through this study will help in efficient management of irrigation water and better management of rice residue in rice-wheat-summer maize cropping system.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr MIS Gill, Dean, Postgraduate Studies; Dr Hari Ram, Head, Department of Agronomy; and Dr TS Riar, Additional Director Communication, congratulated Mr Singh for this great achievement.
