Chandigarh, October 8, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday hit out at the BJP over a CBI search at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office, claiming that the action indicates the Punjab Assembly elections will be held on schedule and accusing the BJP of beginning its election campaign in the state through central investigative agencies.

Addressing a press conference, Mann said, “The CBI search at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office itself means that the Punjab Assembly elections will be held on time. The BJP has started preparing for the elections in Punjab and has chosen to begin its election campaign through the CBI.”

The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP was attempting to create fear and damage the image of an elected government through central agencies. “But no matter how many raids they conduct, they will not find even a single rupee of corruption with us,” he said.

Mann cited what he described as a similar pattern ahead of elections in Delhi, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh, alleging that raids had been conducted in those states before polls.

“The same pattern has been seen in other states around election time. Raids were conducted in Delhi, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh before elections, and now the BJP is adopting the same approach in Punjab,” he said.

Mann said his government would not be deterred by the CBI action and would remain focused on its stated commitments to the people of Punjab.

“We have entered politics to serve Punjabis, not to loot Punjab,” he said, adding that his government’s priorities included providing rights to people, generating employment, strengthening public services and putting Punjab on the path of development.

The Chief Minister also targeted previous governments, alleging that politics had earlier been used for personal enrichment and referring to alleged multi-crore scams and claims of political figures seeking shares in businesses such as buses and hotels.

“The era of multi-crore scams and those taking shares in buses, hotels and other businesses is over,” Mann said, asserting that his government was committed to transparent governance and public welfare.

He said the people of Punjab had repeatedly rejected politics based on fear and intimidation. “They can conduct raids, send agencies and create pressure, but they cannot raid the hearts of Punjabis or silence their voice,” he said.

Mann added that he was not afraid of any investigation and claimed that his government had nothing to hide.

“I am not afraid of any investigation. We have nothing to hide. We are accountable to the people of Punjab and will continue to work for them with honesty and dedication,” he said.

The Chief Minister said his government would continue working on development and welfare initiatives and asserted that attempts to derail Punjab’s progress would not succeed.
