Veteran actors Jackie Shroff and Smita Jaykar recently reunited at Jackie’s farmhouse, taking fans back to their memorable association in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas.
Smita shared a series of photographs from her visit on social media, offering glimpses of a relaxed day spent amid greenery and animals at the farmhouse.
“Day spent at Jackie Shroff farm house. What an experience,” she wrote alongside the pictures.
The photographs show Smita posing with Jackie and another guest, while other moments capture her enjoying the natural surroundings. She is also seen interacting with animals, including feeding a cow and posing with a fluffy white rabbit.
In another photograph, Smita is seen holding a large yellow-green reptile, while a separate frame shows her with an iguana.
Jackie’s farmhouse, located between Mumbai and Pune, is known for its lush surroundings and the variety of animals found there, including cows, ducks and rabbits.
The reunion also drew a warm response from Jackie’s wife, Ayesha Shroff, who reacted to Smita’s post with pink heart emojis.
For fans of Devdas, the get-together offered a nostalgic reminder of the actors’ roles in Bhansali’s 2002 period drama. Jackie played Chunnilal, Devdas’ close friend, while Smita portrayed Kaushalya Mukherjee, Devdas’ mother.
The film starred Shah Rukh Khan as Devdas, Aishwarya Rai as Paro and Madhuri Dixit as Chandramukhi, alongside Kirron Kher as Sumitra and a prominent supporting cast.
Based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s celebrated novel, Devdas was directed by Bhansali and produced by Bharat Shah. Bhansali and Prakash Kapadia wrote the screenplay, with music by Ismail Darbar and Monty Sharma, cinematography by Binod Pradhan and production design by Nitin Chandrakant Desai.
Released in 2002, the film went on to become one of the most acclaimed works of Bhansali’s career.
