New Delhi, September 20, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The death toll in a road accident involving a dumper truck, a crane and an auto-rickshaw in south Delhi’s Sarita Vihar rose to four on Sunday, officials said.

Three other people injured in the accident are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The accident took place early Sunday while CCTV installation work was being carried out near the parked vehicles under the Safe City Project.

According to preliminary information, the dumper truck was travelling from Noida in Uttar Pradesh when it crashed into the crane and an auto-rickshaw parked on the roadside. The impact hit workers involved in the CCTV installation.

Officials identified three of the deceased as Umesh, 23, Praveen, 35, and Suraj, 34. Suraj was reportedly the HR manager of the company engaged in the Safe City Project. The identity of the fourth deceased was not immediately available in the information provided by officials.

The injured victims have been identified as Akash, Anup and Khem Singh. Another person, identified as Sudhir, escaped unharmed.

Ratan Singh, a maternal cousin of Umesh, alleged that inadequate safety arrangements contributed to the tragedy. He said Umesh and other workers were installing CCTV cameras for the Traffic Police when the speeding dumper struck them from behind.

Singh alleged that some workers were on the crane while others were standing on the road at the time of the collision. He also alleged that there were no safety barriers or work-zone barricades around the roadside work area and called for strict action against the dumper driver.

The driver fled the spot following the accident. Police are making efforts to trace him.

Further investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision is underway.

In a separate road accident in Mumbai early Sunday, three people were killed and another critically injured after a high-end car crashed on the Mumbai Coastal Road, officials said.
