Punjab Police conducted 642 raids across the state on Sunday as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, resulting in the arrest of 327 individuals, including eight Proclaimed Offenders (POs).
The statewide campaign, aimed at making Punjab free of gangster-related activities, entered its 237th day. According to the police, the arrested persons were linked to locations identified and mapped for their alleged association with gangsters and their associates. One weapon was also recovered during the operation.
The latest arrests have taken the total number of people arrested since the launch of the campaign to 70,690.
The campaign was launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from all districts have been carrying out coordinated operations in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
Apart from arrests, preventive action was taken against 187 individuals during Sunday’s operation.
Punjab Police also appealed to the public to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline 93946-939-93946, allowing citizens to provide information anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 562nd day. A total of 78 alleged drug smugglers were arrested during the day’s operations.
Police said they recovered 830 grams of heroin, 68 kg of poppy husk, 225 intoxicant tablets and Rs 1,000 in suspected drug money from those arrested.
With the latest arrests, the total number of alleged drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 77,837 in 562 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded five individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Sunday.
