Chandigarh, September 13, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab has overcome the power crisis of the past few days and uninterrupted electricity supply is now being maintained across the state, AAP Punjab chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference, Dhaliwal said technical faults at the private thermal power plants at Talwandi Sabo and Nabha had caused the recent disruption, but the problems have now been rectified. Since 6 a.m. on Sunday, uninterrupted power has been supplied to agricultural, industrial and domestic consumers, he said.

According to Dhaliwal, Punjab’s own power generation has reached 5,300-5,400 MW, while all 10 thermal units in the state are operational. The total demand of around 15,700 MW is being met, he said.

Dhaliwal alleged that the Centre failed to support Punjab during the crisis and withheld the state’s 1,051 MW share from the central power pool. He claimed that despite repeated communications by the Punjab Power Minister and senior officials, no assistance was provided by the Centre.

He also criticised Punjab BJP leaders, accusing them of remaining silent instead of seeking the release of the state’s electricity share and pending funds, including Rural Development Fund (RDF) and link-road funds, from the Centre.

Assuring farmers and industrial consumers, Dhaliwal said there was no need for panic over coal availability. He said Punjab was receiving continuous coal supplies from its Pachhwara Coal Mine.

The Ropar thermal plant has around 30 days of coal stock, Lehra Mohabbat 11 days, Goindwal Sahib 16 days, Nabha eight days and Talwandi Sabo four days, he said.

Dhaliwal asserted that the Bhagwant Mann government would continue to support Punjab’s farmers and industry and claimed there would be no shortage of electricity in the coming days.
