Delhi Police have safely recovered a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped from the national capital and apprehended a 16-year-old boy who had allegedly enticed her to Zirakpur in Punjab, officials said on Saturday.
The recovery followed sustained intelligence gathering, technical surveillance, field efforts and coordination between police teams in Delhi and Punjab.
A case was registered at Bharat Nagar Police Station on September 5 following a complaint about the girl’s kidnapping. The investigation was taken up on priority, with dedicated teams deployed to trace the minor and the boy allegedly involved in taking her away.
A team from Police Post Sangam Park, led by its in-charge SI Rajesh Pilania and comprising SI Naveen and Head Constable Manish, was formed to investigate the case. The team worked under the supervision of Inspector Ram Kishore, SHO, Bharat Nagar Police Station, and the overall guidance of ACP Ashok Vihar Akash Rawat.
During the investigation, police analysed CCTV footage, developed human intelligence inputs and conducted technical surveillance. Continuous raids and searches were also carried out at suspected locations across Delhi.
Acting on intelligence inputs developed during the investigation, the team travelled to Zirakpur and conducted a coordinated operation at an identified location. The operation led to the safe recovery of the minor girl and apprehension of the 16-year-old boy.
The girl is being brought back to Delhi, while necessary legal formalities are being completed in accordance with the law.
Delhi Police said prompt action, intelligence gathering, technical surveillance, sustained field efforts and interstate coordination played a crucial role in tracing the girl and ensuring her safe recovery.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
