Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Tuesday sought the blessings of God and his parents and thanked those who continued to stand by him during what he described as a challenging period, following the dismissal of criminal charges against him by a US court.
“Taking the blessings from God and his parents, Gautam Adani thanked all those who stood by him even during tough times and kept their faith in him,” the Adani Group said in a post on X.
The development came after Judge Nicholas Garaufis of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York dismissed all criminal charges against Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani and their associate Vneet Jaain in a case involving allegations of securities and wire fraud.
Welcoming the court’s decision, Gautam Adani said the outcome was received with “humility and deep respect for the judicial process”.
“Throughout this challenging period, our faith in truth, fairness and the rule of law remained unwavering,” Adani said in a post on X.
He also expressed gratitude to those who continued to have faith in him, the legal system and India’s ability to deliver justice.
In a separate development, the court finalised a settlement between the Adanis and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Under the settlement, the Adanis will pay $18 million to the US government and formally resolve the civil securities fraud allegations against them.
Adani said the group would remain focused on its business and broader objectives.
“We will continue doing what matters: building for our nation, creating value that outlasts us and serving a purpose larger than ourselves. That is our commitment,” he said.
The dismissal followed a development last month when the US Department of Justice told a federal court that investors had suffered no financial losses in the securities at the centre of the case. The department argued that the absence of investor losses further weakened the basis for continuing the prosecution and supported its decision to seek dismissal of the criminal charges.
“Not a single penny has ever been lost on the securities at issue,” the filing stated.
