The All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed deep grief over the demise of renowned educationist, religious leader and social figure Principal Niranjan Singh, who passed away on Wednesday at his native village Gamaraj in Tral.
According to family sources, the last rites of Principal Niranjan Singh will be performed later on Wednesday at Gamaraj village.
In a condolence message, APSCC described Principal Niranjan Singh as a respected personality who dedicated his life to education, social service and the welfare of the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir.
The committee said his demise is a major loss not only for the Sikh community but for the entire Kashmir Valley.
APSCC recalled that Principal Niranjan Singh had actively contributed to the organisation’s efforts for the social and educational upliftment of the Sikh community. He participated in several protests, public meetings and delegations that raised community issues before the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and various Chief Ministers.
The committee said he remained associated with the demand for addressing long-pending issues of the Sikh minority, including minority status, reservation in the Legislative Assembly, employment opportunities for non-migrant Sikh youth, resolution of Punjabi language-related concerns and other community demands.
Highlighting his contribution to education, APSCC said Principal Niranjan Singh played a significant role in providing quality education to students from different sections of society in Tral and earned immense respect for his dedication and commitment as an educator.
APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina, along with leaders Ajeet Singh Mastana, Sant Singh, Dr Joginder Singh Shaan, Er. Jatinder Singh, D.P. Singh, Davinder Singh and other members, expressed profound sorrow over his passing.
They conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul, while seeking strength for the family to bear this irreparable loss.
