Punjab’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY) has provided cashless medical treatment to 2,91,417 beneficiaries across all districts of the state since its launch on January 8, 2026, with healthcare services worth more than ₹1,044 crore delivered under the scheme, according to the State Health Agency (SHA), Punjab.
Highlighting the achievement, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said the true success of any healthcare programme lies in ensuring timely treatment for people when they need it most.
“A healthcare scheme is successful only when it reaches people at the time they need it. Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana is not just about numbers; it is about ensuring that no patient has to choose between treatment and financial hardship. Every beneficiary represents a family that received support during a difficult time,” he said.
The minister added that the government remains committed to expanding access to cashless treatment, strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring that every eligible citizen benefits from the scheme.
Several beneficiaries shared how the initiative helped them access critical medical care without financial stress.
Sureshpal Kaur said the Sehat Card proved invaluable during a high-risk pregnancy that required a Caesarean section. She said her newborn also received specialised neonatal care under the scheme, helping the family through a difficult period.
Rupinder Kaur of Sunam said years of severe knee pain had made daily life difficult, but she was able to undergo a free knee replacement surgery under the scheme, significantly improving her quality of life.
Bir Singh of Tarn Taran, who underwent angiography and Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) for a heart condition, said the scheme enabled him to receive timely treatment without the burden of arranging funds.
District-wise data released by the State Health Agency shows Patiala recorded the highest number of beneficiaries at 27,892, followed by Bathinda (22,584) and Ludhiana (21,729).
Other districts reporting significant beneficiary numbers include Jalandhar (19,312), Hoshiarpur (19,075), Amritsar (16,550), Sangrur (16,549), Sri Muktsar Sahib (14,800), Ferozepur (13,344), Gurdaspur (12,037), Moga (11,669), Fazilka (11,516), Mansa (10,539), Faridkot (10,309), Barnala (8,773), Tarn Taran (8,714), Rupnagar (8,574), SAS Nagar (8,085), Fatehgarh Sahib (7,933), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (6,999), Kapurthala (5,928), Pathankot (5,844) and Malerkotla (2,472).
The government said the scheme’s statewide reach reflects its objective of ensuring affordable, accessible and quality healthcare for families across both urban and rural Punjab.
