Punjab- 9 Lakh Health Cards Issued In The State Under Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojna: Dr Balbir Singh

Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today said that around 9 lakh health cards have so far been issued in the state under the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojna, and the Punjab Government is working actively to cover every family in the state under this scheme.

While interacting with the media after a detailed review meeting regarding the scheme at the District Administrative Complex here, the Health Minister, accompanied by Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat, MLA Balkar Singh, MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann, Chairman District Planning Committee Amritpal Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh and Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajesh Garg, said that more than 70 percent of patients in government hospitals are being treated free of cost under the scheme.

Dr. Balbir Singh said the scheme is receiving an overwhelming response from the people of the state, and a large number of citizens are arriving daily for registration. He said the enrolment process has been accelerated and at present around 60,000 health cards are being issued every day. To further speed up the process, additional staff and machinery are being deployed. He added that the number of registration camps will also be increased in the coming days.

The Health Minister informed that the Punjab Government has already released Rs. 500 crore to the insurance partner to ensure timely payments to all empanelled hospitals.
He also stated that there are no pending dues of hospitals up to January 31, 2026.

Dr. Balbir Singh said that under this scheme, launched by the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, cashless treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh per family per year is being provided. He said the objective of the scheme is to minimize the financial burden on families during medical emergencies and appealed to the people of the state to get registered without delay.

Earlier, during a meeting with district administration and health department officials, the Health Minister reviewed the registration progress under the scheme in the district. He directed the district administration, health department, Common Service Centres, Sewa Kendras and other concerned departments to work in better coordination to ensure effective implementation of this public welfare scheme so that its benefits reach every individual in the state. He also asked SDMs and SMOs to visit individual CSCs to address any issues being faced in the registration process immediately. He said that in the coming days, 10,000 health cards will be issued daily in Jalandhar.

On the occasion, AAP leaders Rajwinder Kaur Thiara, Nitin Kohli, Dinesh Dhall, Pinder Pandori, Principal Prem Kumar, all SDMs, and officials of the Health Department, Municipal Corporation, Sewa Kendras and CSCs were also present.
