AAP MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu Alleges Death Threats; Names Gurpatwant Singh Pannun

Ludhiana, February 15, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Atam Nagar constituency, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, has alleged that he has been receiving death threats and that suspicious surveillance was recently noticed outside his residence in Ludhiana’s Model Gram area.

Speaking to media persons, Sidhu claimed that he has received threatening WhatsApp calls from an international number over the past 15 days. He further alleged that the caller identified himself as Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and issued threats against him. Sidhu stated that he had openly challenged Pannun to either come to India or arrange a visa for him, asserting that he was prepared to face him.

Suspicious Vehicle Activity Raises Concern

According to the MLA, the situation escalated late Friday night when a Hyundai i20 car with tinted windows was seen repeatedly moving around his residence. CCTV cameras installed at the house reportedly captured the vehicle circling the premises, and its occupants were allegedly seen pointing towards the property.

Sidhu also stated that his security personnel on duty overheard the occupants of the vehicle discussing one of the entry gates and pointing towards it, raising further concerns about possible surveillance.

MLA Urges Authorities to Strengthen Security

The legislator said that when the threat calls initially began, police had installed a metal detector at his residence as a precautionary measure. However, he claimed that the device was later removed even though the alleged threat calls continued.

Expressing concern over his safety, Sidhu urged authorities to take the matter seriously and provide adequate security cover. He stated that he would not be intimidated by such threats and remains committed to serving the people.

Similar Security Concerns for Other Ludhiana MLA

The development comes close on the heels of similar security concerns involving another AAP legislator from Ludhiana. Recently, Ashok Prashar Pappi, MLA from Ludhiana Central constituency, had arranged a bulletproof vehicle for himself, and his security was also enhanced following police advisories based on certain unverified threat inputs.

Police Confirm Complaint, Investigation Underway

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma confirmed that Sidhu had reported the matter to the police a few days ago. He stated that precautionary measures have already been taken and that police are actively working to identify and trace the suspects seen near the MLA’s residence.

Officials said appropriate legal action, including registration of a formal case, will be taken after preliminary verification and investigation.

Police reiterated that they remain committed to ensuring the safety of elected representatives and maintaining law and order.
