To mark National Youth Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, and in accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the NSS Wing of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda organized a “Run for Swadeshi” programme on Monday (January 19).
The event aimed to motivate young minds to adopt the ideals of Swadeshi, self-reliance, physical fitness, discipline, and national unity, inspired by the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. NSS volunteers and faculty members participated enthusiastically, demonstrating their commitment to nation-building and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
The programme began with the Run for Swadeshi, symbolizing the collective resolve of the youth to support indigenous products and actively contribute to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
An expert lecture was later delivered by Dr. Manjeet Bansal, Dean, Consultancy Cell, MRSPTU, Bathinda. In his address, Dr. Bansal highlighted the contemporary relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy, emphasizing youth empowerment, innovation, self-confidence, and the crucial role of young minds in making India self-reliant and globally competitive.
The event concluded with motivational messages stressing the importance of youth leadership, social responsibility, and national consciousness. Certificates were distributed among the participants in appreciation of their active and spirited participation.
