Delhi Govt to Commemorate 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur: Sirsa

Chandigarh, 9 July, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

For the first time in its history, the Delhi State Government has decided to officially commemorate the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with the deepest respect and devotion, said Delhi Cabinet Minister S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa while addressing a press conference at the BJP Punjab headquarters today.

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Delhi Chief Minister Smt Rekha Gupta, and with the support of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, a two-day state-level programme will be held at the Red Fort, Delhi to mark this sacred occasion.

Key Initiatives Announced:

“Great Forest” at Najafgarh, Delhi. A vast Miyawaki-style urban forest is being created near Najafgarh.

Dedicated to the memory of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the forest will stand as a perpetual tribute to his supreme sacrifice and to our pledge to protect the environment.

It will improve local air quality, expand urban greenery and inspire future generations to value nature, peace, and communal harmony—the very ideals Guru Sahib championed.

Special Academic Course on Sikh History:

Delhi University will soon launch an exclusive course devoted to the lives and teachings of the Sikh Gurus.

Sirsa urged all public and private universities in Punjab to introduce similar programmes so that youngsters connect with their rich heritage.

Strong Words for the AAP Government

Sirsa castigated Arvind Kejriwal and his associates, saying that after “looting Delhi”, they have now turned Punjab into their next hunting ground.

Law and order in Punjab, he noted, is deteriorating rapidly, with daily murders while the state’s security machinery is focused on protecting Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Bhagwant Mann and their families.

On the proposed sacrilege law, Sirsa remarked that first the Congress government and now the AAP regime have played politics over the sensitive issue of beadbi. In the past three-and-a-half years, the AAP government has failed to conduct an impartial probe into the 2015 sacrilege cases and is once again using the matter for political theatrics.

Sirsa concluded by appealing to the people to follow Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s message of sacrifice, truth, and ecological stewardship, and to support initiatives that truly honour that legacy rather than hollow political slogans.
